Buku Medicine
Medical reference guide for the investigation of health problems
Buku Medicine is an app created and curated by volunteer clinicians giving up their time to help create a great resource for clinicians and to improve patient care. Their aim is to provide answers and education about the most common questions posed to medical specialty doctors in order to free up time for clinicians, improve workload and improve patient care.
The team from Buku Medicine had already established a large user base through their web application that they created with an app builder service, but once their user base grew and their requirements became more complex, they needed a more scalable solution with an improved user experience and the ability to provide a subscription service.
We worked with Buku to identify the key features required for the app and to create a functional specification. We then started the development of the app and migrated their existing user base to the new platform.
The new iOS and Android apps are fully native and provide searchable, rich content to users in a simple and intuitive way. The content editors and administrators from Buku Medicine have access to a web-based administration area, where they can view analytics, subscription revenue and manage the content available in the mobile apps.
The new app also introduces educational content which is available to users who can subscribe to the content through the app. The content includes a mixture of images, pictures and videos.
